Finding that Perfect Christmas Gift

“Making a Christmas List and Checking It Twice…” Xmas fun is here again! So, what are you going to get those special people in your life for Christmas this year? Any idea? Do you find yourself agonizing on that xmas gift then just getting “something” at the last minute? What if there was a better way? Well the good news is, there IS a better way. Here are some Christmas tips that we hope will help you walk through the process of finding that “perfect gift”.

1) Like the boy scouts say “Always be prepared”. This is a good moto to have in the world of gift giving as well. Keep your eyes and ears open when you are around the person you plan to give a gift to, and they will often give you clues as to what they would like. This is especially true when you go shopping with them. They will often pick something up, and make a comment, such as “I’d really like this, but it’s just too expensive”. “That’s cute, I’ll have to keep it in mind”. “I like it, but it would be nice if it was in blue”. Make a mental note of these comments…they will let you know a potential gift idea for the future.

2) Does this person have a particular hobby? If they are a sports fanatic, or are into crafts, or like to spend their time with some other leisurely pursuit, there is more often or not something a gift that you can get them to support their hobby. How do you find out? You will need to do a little research. Call up your local hobby shop, or post a question on an internet forum, asking “what would be a great gift for someone who likes to …”. If they have a favorite sports team, there are tons of merchandise items available with team logos on them.

3) Ask one of their close friends for suggestions, but have samples of gift ideas available when you do. Often, if you ask someone what a good gift would be, they will draw a blank. Not because they don’t know…but because they need some sort of a memory crutch to edge them along. So, if you were going to ask one of your daughter’s friends for gift suggestions, have a list of what you were thinking about. If possible, bring images of your possible gift suggestions, such as those from a catalog. Now none of your ideas might be the perfect gift, but if your daughter’s friend sees these images, and hears you talk about them, it might bring back memories of a similar item that your daughter said she would really love to own…
